Solo Quests, July 2026 Channel Update

In this July 2026 update, I talk about where Solo Quests is headed next. The channel has really settled into what it does best, solo roleplaying, solo actual play, and using RPG books to build characters, monsters, adventures, tools, and campaign ideas. I also talk about the recent GURPS focus, my plans to keep trying other systems, and the kind of solo content I want to make more of going forward. If you enjoy solo gaming and practical RPG book use, this is where the channel is going.

Blogging Thoughts... Tricube Tales

So I finally pulled the trigger and got myself a copy of these rules in paperback (as well as PDF), you can get yourself a copy at DrivethruRPG, and a small tip, if you hit the preview button, you can see the entire ruleset and the author encourages you to look before you buy. I also picked up the Advanced rules, to see if I can add something later on.

Can GURPS Religion be used for Modern Horror?

GURPS Religion looks like a fantasy religion toolkit at first glance, but I wanted to see how well it works for a modern horror campaign. In this video, I use GURPS Religion for 3rd Edition to build the Ordo Dei, the hidden order behind my Ethan Cole horror game.

GURPS Horror Solo RPG | The Tuxville Case

Welcome to a new solo GURPS Horror campaign. Ethan Cole returns to the small town of Tuxville after the death of his father. What should have been a simple trip home quickly turns into something far stranger. A break-in, a missing necklace, a mysterious photograph, strange tracks in the woods, and questions nobody seems eager to answer. Using GURPS 3rd Edition and a solo game master emulator, I follow the clues as Ethan begins uncovering secrets hidden beneath this quiet Pennsylvania town. What happened to his father? Who broke into the house? And why was an old photograph left behind? This is Episode 1 of an ongoing solo horror mystery campaign. Each episode will be a self contained story, like an episode of a TV show over a season.

Story Maps vs Town Maps, which is better?

Let's be honest, do you really need a detailed town map for Solo or group play?

Well in this video I will go over my method in this process and let you decide if it is better or worse. Tracking every street, building or distance or just a bunch landmarks with connected lines. Does it really matter when it comes down to a town if something is this far away on this street? 85% of the time it really doesn't matter at all. The town square. The church. The sheriff's office. The old abandoned house on the edge of town. These are the places where the story happens. I'll show how a simple collection of circles and connecting lines can give you everything you need to run a solo campaign while keeping your focus on characters, mysteries, and adventure instead of cartography. If you've ever felt stuck trying to create detailed maps before you can start playing, this approach might help.

I Started with GURPS Lite… That Was a Mistake

When I decided to relearn GURPS 3rd Edition, I started where many people do, GURPS Lite. It seemed like the obvious choice. The rules were shorter, easier to digest, and less intimidating than jumping straight into the full game. Then I started running actual adventures. After posting my first fantasy dungeon crawl, experienced GURPS players kept telling me the same thing: if you want to learn GURPS, stop using Lite and start using the Basic Set.

Solo Star Wars RPG, Hunting Jedi with an Imperial Inquisitor - E1

In this solo Star Wars RPG session, I try out the ACE system from ENWorld and step into the role of Imperial Inquisitor Cross. The hunt begins on the junkyard moon of Kessler 9, where rumors point to a surviving Jedi hiding in the warehouse district. What starts as a visit to a cantina contact quickly turns into threats, suspicion, and a street chase when somebody takes too much interest in Cross. This is a desktop solo play setup using a map, oracle questions, a custom dice roller, and a simple system that moves fast. If you want to see more of Inquisitor Cross tracking fugitive Jedi, or want a separate look at the ACE system itself, let me know in the comments. I'll say no more, except, enjoy!

I Need a Monster for My Next Solo Horror, So I Built One...

Today I decided to crack open the GURPS Monsters book and show how I build a monster for a game I am running.
